Permanent employees of Anne Arundel County Public Schools will receive the awards before the end of the year.

The school board announced On Wednesday, bonuses will be paid to most employees by December 16th.

Those on leave will receive their leave of absence at a later date.

“No school system can be great without great people,” wrote Superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell, who declined to accept a bonus himself.

“Like I said before, the work you’re doing in the face of some tough challenges is incredible. Regardless of your role in our school system, our students benefit from your dedication and passion every day. Please never forget that.”

Bonuses are pro-rated based on employees’ full-time equivalents.

The county funds the payments from savings accumulated from vacancies throughout the school system.

dr Bedell also informed employees that as of December 28, no health insurance premiums will be deducted from their paychecks.

More bonus payments

Several states are offering extra cash as the holiday fast approaches.

$500 worth of payments will be distributed by the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

Those participating in the state’s Families First (FFP) program, also known as Temporary Assistance to Families in Need (TANF), are eligible for the bonus, which comes in time for Christmas.

Families participating in the FFP will receive an additional $500 boost loaded onto their EBT cards.

According to TDHS, it will be available starting Thursday, December 1st.

The grant will help nearly 24,000 children.

In Connecticut, key pandemic workers can expect one-time bonus checks of up to $1,000 in the New Year.

The Connecticut state legislature voted overwhelmingly to increase the state’s bounty payment program by $75 million under House Bill 6001, which Gov. Ned Lamont signed on Nov. 29.

Only full-time employees earning less than $50,000 — approximately 66,000 people — qualify for the full $1,000, while those earning between $50,000 and $150,000 qualify for amounts between $100 and $800 to qualify.

The state has not announced whether applications will resume or when beneficiaries can expect to receive the money.
