3 people injured in daytime shooting in northwest Miami-Dade – NBC 6 South Florida

At least three people were injured in a shooting in broad daylight in a northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The shooting happened in the area of 18th Avenue and Northwest 64th Street in Gladeview around 1 p.m.

The footage showed a large police presence on site as officers and first responders treated two people who were lying on the ground and appeared to be injured. Both were placed in the back of ambulances.

Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said two people were standing on a corner when a dark SUV drove by.

Several people in the SUV opened fire and a shootout ensued, Zabaleta said.

Zabaleta said three people who were in the SUV were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. All injuries were not life-threatening.

“It was an exchange of fire, you can see that there are several shell casings on the ground,” Zabaleta said. “The amount of shots, the number of rounds fired, it’s a wonder no one else got shot.”

One person was arrested at the scene, but the driver of the SUV fled in an unknown direction, Zabaleta said.

Two high-powered rifles were recovered from the scene, Zabaleta said.

Investigators are still investigating what led to the shooting.
