FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) – Authorities say three men were driven to steal before a high-speed chase ensued that led to Florida Highway Patrol troopers using the PIT maneuver.

7News cameras captured one of the suspects, Dajon Reed, as he was released from the Fort Lauderdale jail Sunday evening.

Hours earlier, he stood before a judge where charges were filed against him, including aggravated theft with property damage.

Reed is part of a trio that was captured and tied up by FHP soldiers.

A second suspect, Caleb Reed, also appeared in court Sunday but was not granted bail.

“Two non-bailable probation violations,” the judge said.

The third suspect, Horace Ellis, is being held on a total bond of $17,000.

Authorities said the trio took them on a high-speed chase that ended near Interstate 595, where officers used the PIT maneuver to stop the black Mercedes-Benz sedan they were riding in.

According to investigators, it all started in Collier County, where the suspects fled east on I-75 in a stolen Range Rover and then jumped into the Mercedes.

According to authorities, the trio reached speeds of at least 140 mph before the pursuit ended at the Flamingo Road exit.

Investigators said all three suspects are connected to a series of robberies and vehicle thefts in parts of Southeast and Southwest Florida.
