6 teens shot dead at house party in Louisiana – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – Six teenagers were shot at a house party in Louisiana Saturday night, one of whom was in critical condition, local authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting at a home in the southeast Louisiana city of Lake Charles just before midnight Saturday. When officers arrived, they found several teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds.
All of the victims were between the ages of 15 and 19, the sheriff’s office said in a statement Sunday. According to authorities, a fight broke out and someone pulled out a gun and started shooting. The law enforcement statement did not say whether a suspect had been identified.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said the investigation is ongoing and urged parents to keep a closer eye on their children.
“We are in the process of collecting evidence and speaking to all witnesses. This was a party full of teenagers. We must once again figure out how these weapons end up in the hands of our children,” Mancuso said. “Youth violence is a problem in our country and it is our duty as parents to know what their children are up to.”
All teens were taken to a hospital, where one remains in critical condition.
