In October, the first round of tax breaks went to California residents.

Those direct deposits were just the early wave, and the money will continue through January 2023, according to the state’s franchise tax agency.

The funds are a direct result of an agreement Gov. Gavin Newsom reached with state legislatures a few months ago.

As a result, millions of Californians will receive payments ranging from $200 to $1,050 to fight inflation.

So far, 6,955,276 direct deposits have been issued and 3,592,026 debit cards have been sent, according to the state website.

This has resulted in a total relief of over $5.7 billion.

How benefits are issued

If you opted for a direct deposit refund on your tax return, this is likely how you get the money here.

You will receive a debit card if you submitted a paper return, have an outstanding balance, received your Golden State Stimulus by check, or received your 2020 refund by check for any reason.

If you have changed your bank details since 2020, you will also receive a debit card.

The same applies if you received an advance from your accountant or used your refund to pay your accountant.

When you see money

Those who received money via direct deposit should be paid by November 14th.

Anyone who gets money on a debit card with a last name that starts with AM should have gotten the money.

Surnames beginning with NV started receiving payments starting November 20th and should all have the money by December 3rd.

W–Z surnames will start receiving cash starting December 4th and are expected to receive it by December 10th.

Those who did not receive the Golden State’s stimulus refunds and have last names beginning with AK will receive their money December 5-17.

Surnames beginning L-Z who have not yet received the Golden State’s stimulus refund will receive their checks by December 31st.
