’90s Supermodel Linda Evangelista Reveals Secret Double Mastectomy After Breast Cancer Diagnosis!

Linda Evangelista sat down with the Wall Street Journal for an interview published Tuesday, in which she made a shocking revelation about her health condition…
The legendary ’90s supermodel explained that nearly five years ago, in December 2018, she made the difficult decision to undergo a bilateral mastectomy after an annual mammogram revealed she had breast cancer. She told the outlet:
“The margins weren’t good and for other health reasons I had no hesitation in opting for a bilateral mastectomy because I wanted to get away from it all and not have to deal with it. I thought I was good and ready for life. Breast cancer wouldn’t kill me.”
What a brave decision. Unfortunately, she wasn’t quite out of the woods just yet…
The 58-year-old shared that she seemed to be fine for years – until she discovered another lump in her breast in July last year. She discussed the situation with an oncologist, who she said was “unfazed” but ordered an MRI anyway. The results were apparently enough for the doctor to do a biopsy, and indeed it was more cancer, but this time in her pectoral muscle. But Linda wasn’t discouraged.

She explained to the outlet that she told her doctor to take whatever action is necessary to cure her of the deadly disease. She recalled the conversation:
“Dig a hole in my chest. I don’t want it to look pretty. I want you to dig I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? I’m not dying of it.”
Wow! It’s a scary thought, but it just goes to show what a fighter she is – especially because she’s a supermodel!
This, of course, happened just a few years after Linda was “permanently disfigured” from fat-freezing treatment. Perhaps by that point she had resigned herself to not trying to maintain perfection anymore. Then again, maybe it was just an incredibly strong survival instinct.
Anyway, the doctors did it. But even after the surgery, doctors told her her prognosis was good, but not “great” — which she wasn’t exactly thrilled about. However, they explained to her that “as soon as it comes back, there’s a chance.” She added that she got “a terrible oncotype score” that predicts the likelihood of cancer coming back — but she remains positive:
“I know I have one foot in the grave, but I’m in the mood for celebration.”
She added that for a long time “only a handful of people knew,” but we assume she’s finally finding it easier to speak out publicly. It is currently not clear if she underwent breast reconstruction surgery following her double mastectomy.
Poor Linda – our hearts go out to her. She is also a great inspiration to everyone else who is confronted with it! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know below in the comments.
