After the body was discovered in Collinsville, a major criminal squad was activated

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Late Wednesday morning, Collinsville police were called to an area on Route 159 to find a man dead in a ditch.

The call came in just before 10:45 a.m. Collinsville police found the body in the 500 block of Loop Street.

The man, identified as Tyrese Owens, suffered a severe laceration to his upper body and was later pronounced dead by the Madison County Coroner’s Office. Owens was 21.

Police said Owens lived in an apartment on the street.

Collinsville police assigned the Greater St. Louis Area Major Case Squad to lead the investigation. Around 20 investigators are assigned to the case and are following up on numerous leads.
