Alec Baldwin almost came back for Mission: Impossible

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” director Christopher McQuarrie wanted to bring Alec Baldwin back for the opening flashback.

Some franchises just can’t help themselves when it comes to bringing characters back from the dead (I’m looking at you). Fast & Furious), but for the most part the dead stay dead Mission impossible. However, that doesn’t mean the characters can’t return in other ways, said Christopher McQuarrie Empire Spoilers Podcast (above ComicBook.com), for which he thought about bringing back Alec Baldwin Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Alec Baldwin played CIA Director Alan Hunley Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation before becoming IMF secretary Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Hunley was killed Stand outbut Christopher McQuarrie had a plan to include Alec Baldwin in one Dead Reckoning Flashback scene that would have opened the film.
“Berlin had called our name. Originally there was an opening to this film that began with Tom and Alec Baldwin walking along the Berlin Wall.McQuarrie explained. “They walk along the wall and you slowly realize that it is the Berlin Wall. And it’s Alec Baldwin who talks to Ethan about his life as a spy and how he became a spy. And you realize he’s advising Ethan. You’ll get a glimpse into the pre-existing friendship between these two characters Stand out. And you cut and Tom is standing at his grave after hearing the wise words from Alec and he’s just looking at a gravestone that says “Hunley.” And the idea that Alec Baldwin could be a spirit guide for Ethan in his memory was a very, very early idea in the story, something that really interested me.“
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to track down a terrible new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake and dark forces from Ethan’s past on the rise, a deadly race across the globe begins.
