Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries are on sale

Batteries are an expensive but necessary part of life. You can lower this cost by buying rechargeable batteries, but they cost even more than regular batteries. Amazon has a solution in its Basics line: a rechargeable battery pack that costs about half what the competition costs. For example, this 16-pack of rechargeable batteries is only $26 at a unit price of $1.66 per battery. A single 8-pack from Energizer is almost the same price, costing $3.10 per battery.

Amazon offers four quantities: four, eight, 12, and 24 batteries per pack. The larger the pack, the lower the cost per battery you pay. The 16-pack is a sweet spot that’s affordable and gives you plenty of batteries – because how many devices do you have that need more than a few AAs?

Amazon promises these batteries can be recharged 1,000 times before they need to be replaced. To put that in perspective, you’re literally saving hundreds of dollars on batteries with a single battery pack.

A five-star reviewer said these are the batteries of choice for critical applications. “Each year I always buy a set of these as our standby AAs for the wireless mics in our church. Two criteria – they must maintain their charge and capacity for critical equipment. We don’t want a mic dead in the middle of a service. […] Over the years, the Amazon Basic AA batteries have been consistent in terms of quality. I should be careful to say make sure you get Amazon Basic’s standard capacity. The high capacity Amazon Basic, about 1/2 of them, will start to fail if left on a trickle charger 24/7.

Another parent praised the batteries in their multi-child household: “I bought these in AA and AAA sizes and they are great for remotes, video game controllers and toys. I have 5 kids so we use a lot of batteries had tried rechargeable batteries a few years ago but wasn’t happy with the longevity. These are great. They’ve come a long way since then. One charger works for both sizes.”

These batteries are also rated to last five years, so you can stash them away for emergencies without fear of losing their charge. Sure, they might not be on sale right now, but these are great value.
