AMC is bringing movie popcorn (plus butter topping) to the microwave

If AMC can’t get you to theaters, it wants to get theaters to you. The smell of melted “butter” and Popcorn is an important part of the cinema experience. However, as streaming becomes more popular, audiences may be missing this crucial experience. And AMC wants to make sure nobody has to miss out.

According to one publication, “With this new popcorn launch from AMC Theaters, AMC is bringing the taste and aroma of Perfectly Popcorn movie theater popcorn to the comfort of your home.” AMC claims this is the same snack previously only served in its theaters. This microwaveable, ready-to-eat movie popcorn comes in three flavors: Classic Butter, Extra Butter, and Lightly Salted. Additionally, “The Microwavable Extra Butter variety comes with packets of buttery toppings that allow consumers to recreate the ultimate cinematic experience by adding even more buttery flavor to their popcorn.”

Who doesn’t love extra buttery topping? We definitely love it more than News of AMC’s plans to charge more for movie tickets based on seat. But will AMCDoes Home Popcorn really replicate the popcorn experience of the movie? Will it taste different than any other microwave popcorn out there? We’ll have to wait for the reviews. This cinematic popcorn will be available at Walmart.
