Armed Thieves Force Workers to Open Safe in Northeast Philly McDonald’s Robbery – NBC10 Philadelphia

Thieves forced employees at a McDonald’s restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia’s Tacony neighborhood to open a locked door and a safe before making off with about $2,500, police said Sunday.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2:22 a.m. at a McDonald’s restaurant in the 6400 block of Torresdale Avenue when officers responded to a call of a person with a gun at that location.
Investigators said employees told responding officers that as a worker exited through a back door during break, two unknown individuals armed with handguns entered the establishment through that door.
Inside, the gunmen forced an employee to open a locked rear area, and then the two forced a manager to open a locked safe, officials said.
The perpetrators – who police did not identify – fled on foot down Torresdale Avenue after taking about $2,500, officials said.
Police officials said the investigation was still ongoing.
