speaks Botox.
The high school musical alum to answer the question of whether or not she uses injections. The answer? Yes – just not in the way you might expect.
“I have temporomandibular joint dysfunction, also known as temporomandibular joint dysfunction,” he said young and hungry The producer explained in her post published on March 1st. “TMJ is a fairly common syndrome where you clench your jaw, causing intense tension and pain. It happens to me when I’m overly stressed. Coupled with the tension in my jaw, TMJ caused headaches and tight neck muscles, not to mention pain from grinding my teeth at night. Even with a night watchman, I got a full night’s rest and woke up in absolute pain from the neck up.”
Tisdale wrote that , a board-certified surgeon, recommended the treatment, which involved a “minimal amount of Botox on either side of my jaw to help those muscles relax.”
Botox in the jaw is because the FDA has not yet approved Botox for this use.
However, Tisdale noted that her jaw botox is the only botox she has received — although others have recommended it to her for cosmetic purposes.
“And as for the rest of my face? Totally Botox-free,” she shared. “Makeup artists and dermatologists have suggested me preventative botox so I don’t get wrinkles in the future, but I’m an actress. I need to use my facial muscles to be fully expressive for work. In the meantime, the only botox you will find is in my jaw.”
Tisdale’s Instagram followers shared their appreciation for her outspokenness in the comments section of a post that directed her to her Botox blog post.
“I deeply appreciate the transparency here,” wrote one. “This is all your business, but I appreciate your awareness of the world we live in and your sphere of influence. Thanks.”
Another added: “I’m new to TMJ pain and suffer from jaw pain and also get really bad earaches. I’m trying everything and just desperate to fix it so any other advice would be so helpful. It’s so helpful and refreshing to hear someone speak out in public about something I’ve never heard of before, so thank you.”
In addition to writing about the treatments she’s receiving to treat her TMJ, the former Disney Channel star has shared her experiences with treating her alopecia.
In January, she wrote on Frenshe about her hair loss.
“Alopecia and hair loss are fairly common, but a lot of people feel embarrassed to talk about these issues,” Tisdale shared. “Any type of hair loss can affect your self-esteem, especially if you feel like you’re the only one going through it. That’s why I want to be frank about it – because it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes it’s hormone related, other times it’s heredity, and for me it’s related to stress overload.”
