Bernard Tomic brutally attacked on Gold Coast, video, details, tennis news

Horrifying footage of Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic has been shared on social media.

The 16-second clip shows two men standing over Tomic’s body and attempting to kick and stomp on him.

Tomic, wearing an all-gray tracksuit, desperately tries to cover his face throughout the clip before a man attempts to lift him off the ground and get him back on his feet.

The identity of the two men who attempted to attack the former world number 17 is unknown, as is the identity of the person who carried out the shooting.

Channel 10 reported the video was filmed outside a tattoo parlor on the Gold Coast, while details surrounding the timing of the attack remain unclear.

A man continually yells at Tomic throughout the video: “Get up, you dog.”

Tomic competed in a Challenger event in Istanbul, where he lost in three sets in the round of 16 on Thursday, September 7.

The 30-year-old Queenslander enjoyed a rise in the rankings after falling to No. 825 in the world rankings.

Over the last 18 months he has worked his way back to number 292 in the world.

Despite his rise, it wasn’t enough to secure him a qualifying wildcard for the Australian Open Grand Slam earlier this year.

Australian Open boss Craig Tiley revealed why Tomic ultimately missed out for a wildcard slot for the tournament.

“Our team that deals with the decision is a team of people that deal with the wildcard decision,” Tiley said.

“(They look at) the player coming in, the strength of their game, what events they’ve played, how many times they’ve played, are they the younger part of our future generation. “There’s a lot of factors that come into play.”

WARNING: Disturbing footage

Tomic fell out of favor with Tennis Australia after he beat Australian tennis icon Lleyton Hewitt in 2019.

In addition to his outburst towards Hewitt, Tomic has a long-standing feud with fellow Australian Nick Kyrgios.

Over the years, the two engaged in verbal disagreements until their feud exploded again at the end of 2022.

The final shot in their heated exchange came from Kyrgios, who hit Tomic with a stinging spray.
