Bettors look forward to taking points from Kevin Durant in return
Kevin Durant hasn’t played basketball in almost two months. Durant is also one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen.
Weather focus on the latter.
Durant is set to make his debut with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, and one of the NBA’s most anticipated experiments this season is about to get underway. The Suns are absolutely loaded and have the second best chance of winning the NBA title at BetMGM. The Suns are +450 to win a championship.
Durant is returning from a knee injury on Wednesday night, and most bettors aren’t worried about rust.
Will Kevin Durant Score Over 20.5?
At BetMGM, Durant’s total for points against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night is 20.5. And 82% of the bets are on the over.
Most of Durant’s totals are pretty high for a player who hasn’t ranked since January 8th.
The over bets are even riskier considering Durant has a minute limit, per coach Monty Williams.
On the other hand, Durant scores 21 points in his sleep. He had at least 23 points in 35 of 39 games this season with the Brooklyn Nets. One of the four games in which he failed to reach 21 points was the Jan. 8 game against the Miami Heat, where he injured his knee and was eliminated early.
Setting a line for Durant’s props and betting both sides is an odd situation. He’s undeniably great and if it were a normal game in a healthy season the number of bets over 20.5 points would be closer to 100%. You’ll almost never find a line that low on Durant, so some bettors are taking advantage without worrying about a minute constraint, how Durant fits into his first game on a new team, or rust after a nearly two-month hiatus.
Just another reason to brace yourself for Durant’s anticipated Suns debut.
