Beyoncé’s new fragrance

Along with all the celebrities in Hollywood, I was one of the lucky ones who got to witness Beyoncé’s birthday in LA Renaissance show from Instagram’s suite (alongside Yara Shahidi and Storm Reid, of course even more stars). And I was extra I was lucky enough to receive a sample of Bey’s perfume, which is launching later this fall. It smells exactly how you would imagine Beyoncé smells – feminine, soft and graceful.

I blindly ordered the scent in July when it was announced after reading a list of notes on the website: clementine and golden honey for the top notes, rose absolute and jasmine sambac for the middle notes, and Namibian myrrh and golden amber for the base – I was sure it would be a warm and slightly spicy scent, especially because of the golden amber and honey. But also because I remember Beyoncé’s very first fragrance, “Heat,” which was irresistibly musky and sexy. I was in middle school at the time (and Bey was in her Sasha Fierce era), so maybe I thought that too at the time. The honey notes in her new scent seem like an ode to the Beyhive, so I was sure it was a bold scent, something that said, “I’m here, Beyoncé,” as Bey would say, but the perfume is actually the complete opposite and after smelling it I’m sure Beyoncé smells exactly like that.

The rose was the strongest note and made the scent a little fresher. It’s graceful and gentle, exactly what you’d expect if you happened upon Beyoncé (too bad we’re not Diana Ross).

“It’s so feminine that it almost smells like she doesn’t even have to put it on; “It smells like it’s her natural scent,” said our fashion journalist Danya Issawi. For scent lovers who need something to compare it to, it reminded me a lot of Delina Exclusif from Parfum de Marly, especially because they combine both fresh and warm notes, with rose being the overpowering note.

The beautiful scent was created in France and is bottled in silver packaging befitting its Renaissance era. Bey offered a foretaste of the bottle on her Instagram a few weeks ago. It’s not ready to ship yet, but is available for pre-order on their website and is scheduled for release in November. Her hair care brand is coming soon too; She sent a handful of OG beauty influencers to her birthday show in advance, but we don’t have any details yet. Until then, this scent will live on rent-free in my head. It looks like Bey is in her beauty girl era after the Renaissance tour, and we’re not mad about it, especially when we can smell as elegant as they walk around, because that’s the best thing we’ll ever achieve the same 24 hours as Beyoncé.
