BMG acquires music shares of Eurodance star Haddaway

BMG has acquired the royalties on the recordings of multi-platinum eurodance start Haddaway.

The agreement covers the royalties from Haddaway’s recorded catalogue, including his 1993 platinum-certified debut album, The album (also known as Haddaway in the US).

Today’s news marks the latest deal for BMG, who just last week acquired the recording catalog of multi-platinum German pop-rock band Fools Garden.

The music company also struck a deal earlier this month to acquire the song rights from Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson.

BMG’s deal with Haddaway includes his debut single and his #1 worldwide smash hit What is love, lifeand rock my heart. Other albums included under the deal are The ride (1995), let’s do it now (1998), pop splits (2005) and Must be (2011).

What is love reached #1 in 13 countries, #2 in Germany, Sweden and the UK, and #11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song has generated over 700 million streams on streaming platforms worldwide.

Haddaway’s follow-up singles life, I miss youand rock my heart also reached the Top 10 in Europe and established Haddaway as one of the most successful Eurodance artists.
