Britney Spears apologizes for tell-all book recalling Colin Farrell’s ‘affair’

“The purpose of my book was in no way to offend anyone!” Spears wrote in a statement shared on social media.

The singer took to social media to say, “I don’t like the headlines I read” and also stated that it was not her intention to “offend anyone.”

“The purpose of my book was in no way to offend anyone!” Spears wrote in a statement shared on social media.

“That was me back then… that’s in the past! I don’t like the headlines I read…that’s exactly why I quit the business four years ago!

“Most of the book is from 20 years ago… I’ve moved on and from here it’s a beautiful new beginning! I’m here to establish this for the rest of my life!”

She added: “Anyway, this is the last thing and shit happens!”

Although the book won’t be released until Tuesday, advance releases have brought some of the bigger revelations to light.

This includes the details of her relationship with Justin Timberlake and her conservatorship Time The magazine published an article about Spears’ affair with Colin Farrell.

The Grammy winner, 41, originally met Dubliner Colin, 47, through a “friend” before visiting him on the set of his 2003 film Clap

The chemistry between the two was obviously electric.

In the book, Britney compared their “passionate” affair to a “street brawl” and says they “fell on each other.”

“Brawl is the only word for it – we were all at each other and fighting so passionately it was like we were in a street brawl,” she wrote in a letter Time Abstract.

Despite this, the Dublin actor told reporters on the red carpet at the time: “We’re not dating. She’s a sweet, sweet girl. There’s nothing going on – just friends.”

Britney said: “Yes, I kissed him… He’s the cutest, hottest thing in the world – wooh! But it was nothing serious.”

Early glimpses of the book also revealed that the singer wrote about an abortion she had during her time with Timberlake.

The Mississippi-born singer said she is still in love with her teenage sweetheart from The Mickey Mouse Club.

“As before, when I felt too attached to a man, I tried every way to convince myself that it was no big deal, that we were just having fun.

“For a brief moment I thought there might be something there. The disappointments in my love life were just part of my isolation. I felt so uncomfortable the whole time.”

Spears also detailed that Justin slept with “six or seven girls” in the weeks after their wedding in 2002, adding, “He was every girl’s dream. I was in love with him.”

The pop queen – who reportedly received $15 million for the book – claimed Timberlake pressured her into having an abortion when they became pregnant at age 19. She writes that Timberlake was “definitely not happy” about the “surprise” and “that was.” “I’m sure he didn’t want to be a father.”

She added: “I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left to me alone, I would never have done it.

“I loved Justin so much. I always expected that one day we would start a family…If it had been left to me alone, I would never have done it.”

In her statement, she said, “This is a book I didn’t know needed to be written…while some may be offended, it has given me closure in all things for a better future!”

“Hopefully I can enlighten people who, in most cases, feel particularly alone or hurt or misunderstood! Again, my motivation for writing this book was not to harp on my past experiences, which is what the press does, and that is stupid and silly! I’ve moved on.”

It has been reported that Timberlake and Farrell’s lawyers have threatened legal action over the claims.
