Bubba Ho-Tep is getting a 4K UHD release in February

Bubba Ho-tep (watch it HERE) director Don Coscarelli has confirmed on social media that he’s been collaborating with Scream Factory to bring his 2002 horror comedy to 4K UHD… and now Scream Factory is taking pre-orders at THIS LINK! The release date for the Bubba Ho-tep 4K UHD is February 7thMay, and Scream Factory has several different sets available. Fans can order 4K UHD and Blu-ray individually (with an exclusive poster while supplies last) or with two posters and a slipcase; with two posters, a slipcase and an enamel pin set; or with the cinema poster, a hand-signed exclusive poster, a slipcase and an enamel pin set. Written by Coscarelli and based on a short story by Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep has the following summary:

Elvis Presley and a black “JFK” stay in a nursing home where nothing happens – until a wayward Egyptian mummy comes along and sucks the souls out of the old folks through their A-holes. The two decide to fight back.

The film stars Bruce Campbell, Ossie Davis, Bob Ivy, Ella Joyce, Heidi Marnhout, Larry Pennell, Daniel Roebuck, Daniel Schweiger and Reggie Bannister.

coscarelli said“In the last few months I’ve been working in a film restoration workshop on and off and meticulously checking the original camera negatives from the Bubba Ho-tep Shot 20 years ago and overseeing its transformation frame by frame into a vibrant new 4K master. Watching the restoration unfold brought back a number of great memories of working with the talented cast. Watching all this footage again was bittersweet, of course, as so many of our older cast members are no longer with us, including the legendary Ossie Davis. For all of these reasons, I’m happy to announce that Scream Factory is about to release Bubba Ho-tep in 4K for the first time in February 2023 to get our little Elvis vs Mummy pic! What a way to celebrate and commemorate the 20th anniversary of our theatrical release. There are also some great new extra features that I’m looking forward to. It’s going to be big…. ‘like the size of my fist…the size of a peanut butter and banana sandwich.’“
