Car salespeople will be replaced by AI as digital showrooms reach the metaverse

KIA and Fiat have launched digital Metaverse dealer showrooms to allow customers to search for cars from the comfort of their own homes.

The platform was developed jointly with Microsoft and the software company Touchcast.
In the Fiat Metaverse Store, buyers do not need any special hardware such as a virtual reality (VR) headset.

Microsoft Teams is similar to Slack in that it offers office chat, video conferencing, file storage, and application integration.
A Fiat Metaverse store will be equipped with a Fiat Genius that can answer a shopper’s questions in real time.
These answers are pre-recorded videos and more complicated questions are routed to a human.
Touchcast CEO Edo Segal told Axios: “[This shopping experience is similar to how] A human salesman would meet you at a car dealership and you would ask him a question and he would say, ‘Let me show you,’ and he would walk over and open the door.”
Fiat’s Metaverse dealerships are limited to Italy and plan to expand to other markets soon. NFT Gators reports.
Kia’s virtual showroom is currently exclusive to Germany and is operated by the leading business metaverse platform Engage.
