Car video from Galway: Car “drives at high speed towards a group of people” in the Galway Shopping Center

Gardaí are investigating the serious public order incident which occurred in a shopping center car park on Headford Road at around 6pm.

The incident involved numerous people and was widely shared on social media.

During the incident, a vehicle apparently drove into a group of people at high speed.

A man and a woman are being treated at University Hospital Galway for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two men were also attacked and are also being treated at UHG for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí seized a number of weapons and two vehicles were also seized for technical examination.

A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí in Galway are investigating a serious incident affecting public order which occurred on Headford Road, Galway, at approximately 6.10pm yesterday evening, Sunday 10 September 2023.”

“A large number of people were involved in an altercation in a car park on Headford Road. Two men were attacked and are currently being treated at University Hospital Galway for non-life-threatening injuries.

“During the course of the incident, a vehicle drove towards a group of people at high speed. A man and a woman are being treated at University Hospital Galway for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Gardaí have seized a number of weapons believed to have been used in the course of the incident. Two vehicles were also seized for a technical examination.”

The investigation is ongoing.
