Charlie Puth honored the deceased Matthew Perry with a sentimental song on Sunday.
During his concert in Melbourne, Australia, the 31-year-old “Attention” singer paid homage to the actor – the died on Saturday at the age of 54 – with a piano performance of the cult piece Friends Theme melody.
In a clip shared on TikTok by a concertgoer, Puth performed his rendition of the Rembrandts hit as the crowd at Margaret Court Arena sang along to the tune. Puth joined the crowd as he sang the song’s chorus before uttering the theme’s final line: “Because you’re there for me too.”
He then began singing “See You Again,” his 2015 song, with the rapper Wiz Khalifa this was written as a tribute to the actor Paul Walker after his death in 2013 and included in the Angry 7 Movie.
Puth’s tribute to Perry sparked an emotional response from fans. “And then he proceeds to see you again?!? I was on the floor sobbing,” one user wrote in the comments section.
“That gave me whole body chills. RIP Matthew Perry 🕊️,” a second person commented, while someone else added: “I’m crying 😭 this is beautiful.” RIP Matthew Perry.

Perry was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, apparently drowning.
“We are heartbroken over the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” Perry’s family said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE following his death. “Matthew has brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and as a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous love that has flowed his way.”
Among his many roles, the actor became a star thanks to his role as Chandler Bing in the popular sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004.

Puth has spoken before about living a lifelong life Friends fan, with a particular fondness for Perry in the series. In 2021, he suggested that he might play a character close to the late actor HBO Max Friends Reunion special broadcast.
“I could play Chandler’s long-lost son,” he said E! News by the time. “People think I’m a lot like him.”
The “Mother” singer never met Perry, but the late actor did Friends Costar Jennifer Aniston At The Ellen Show in 2019. That same year, Puth also played against Friends star Courtney Cox in a quiz about the 90s sitcom for billboard.
