A 30-year-old Illinois police officer was arrested by sheriff’s deputies while vacationing in Florida after allegedly urinating into the hotel bar’s ice machine and engaging in a physical altercation with a hotel worker.

The caller, an employee, told 911 they came across an adult man relieving himself in the ice machine and claimed the man hit him when he tried to intervene.

“The victim, an employee at the facility, was attempting to get ice from the ice machine when the victim discovered the defendant was ‘pissing’ on the ice in the machine,” the affidavit reads. “When the victim told the defendant to stop, the defendant started cursing verbally [at] the victim and poked him ‘a couple of times’ with both hands.”

According to authorities, a security guard employed by the hotel witnessed Capouch allegedly beating his colleague. When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, the security guard escorted them to the beach, where they found Capouch seated with his girlfriend. “The accused actively defended himself during his detention and initially did not follow lawful orders,” the affidavit states. “The defendant continued to shout and stopped when told by law enforcement to sit down.”

The simple battery charge states that the capouch “actually and intentionally struck [the hotel employee] against the will of [the hotel employee]and caused bodily harm” when he “used both hands and punched the victim in the chest a couple of times.”

The disorderly conduct charge alleges that Capouch behaved in a manner that “posed a threat to the life or safety of the person or others.”

Both charges against Capouch are first-degree misdemeanors.

The affidavit further states that the deputies believed Capouch, a five-year veteran of the Chicago PD, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest. He was booked into a Pinellas County jail and released the same day after posting $650 bail. prison records Show. There was no attorney listed for Capouch court records from Thursday afternoon.
