In 2014, as part of a collaboration, Chloë Sevigny designed a pink skate deck adorned with her high school yearbook photo Damn great. Since then it has become a collector’s item that can only be found at eBay for more than $1,000. Now, almost ten years later, the actress and streetwear label are enriching their cult following of fans and young skaters alike with the launch of a reimagined take on the hero item. (She’s such a mom!) “Ten years is a really long time in skate culture because kids start skateboarding very early,” Sevigny told the Cut. “The brand called me and said, ‘There’s a whole new group of kids who really want this board. It’s really expensive on eBay, so we give the kids what they want.”
The Memorial deck, which features a glittery pink overlay as opposed to the solid pink original, is available for purchase now faworldentertainment.com, along with signature skate wear styles including a ruffle skirt, argyle sweater vest and classic polo shirt. The seven-person collaboration marks Fucking Awesome’s first foray into women’s fashion.

“I just love the brand and I love it [Fucking Awesome founder] Jason Dill. I’ve known him since the early hours of the morning when he was there The Osbournes‘ Sevigny said. “I believe in what the brand represents in skateboarding.” Even in the ’90s, when mainstream popularity meant skateboarding took on a more sleek aesthetic, Sevigny says Fucking Awesome was always about preserving punk roots and rebellious ones committed to the nature of the sport. “From the graphics to the name itself, everything is very confrontational, which is what I love about skateboarding and what drew me to it as a kid… I’ve always believed in disruption.”

And that makes sense — Sevigny has upset the status quo since the beginning of her decade-long career. From critically acclaimed performances in indie films like boys don’t cry And Children Thanks to successful design collaborations with labels like Opening Ceremony and modeling stations for Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu, the Oscar nominee is one of New York City’s most popular “it” girls of all time.

Here, Sevigny discusses her latest project with Fucking Awesome and shares insights into her personal tastes when it comes to fashion, art, entertainment and other elements of culture.
If I can only buy one piece from the collection, which one should it be?
It’s very back to school so there’s a classic polo shirt that we made in black and white. It has a black heart logo that says ‘FA’ and a small pink bow underneath. I think it’s perfect for anyone who likes polo but wants something a little more outlandish or interesting. I always love a polo.

What other skatewear styles do you love and recommend?
There are always classic t-shirts. I have this extensive archive of so many t-shirts in stock, but I just can’t let them go. They are like works of art. I have an early Zoo York Baby t-shirt that is so rare. I’m also really into puffy sneakers at the moment. [Skateboarder] Beatrice Domond riding for Fucking Awesome, released a pair with Vans. She also liked one Loafer sneakers, which I found really cute. I have a pair and am very excited to wear them this fall.
What was your last fashion purchase?
I’m staying out of Provincetown, Cape Cod, this summer. I’ve been pacing around town in my tabi flats or flip-flops and I’ve been like, “I can’t last the rest of the summer.” So I got these new ones Tevas with a really chic sole. They almost look like Mary Janes and wearing them is like walking on clouds. They only cost $80. I just went to a store and bought them. I was desperate. Also a vintage Dior by Galliano jacket from @eitherstore on Instagram.
What’s the most unexpected item in your closet? Is there anything that would surprise me?
Maybe like an Eileen West nightgown. I bought this at the country store in Vermont or something.
What’s the best moderation advice you’ve ever received?
My longtime stylist, Haley Wollens, tried to move me away from a chunky shoe and into something more dressy. That was good advice. My chest has always made me feel very top-heavy, so I thought wearing a chunky shoe would make me look more balanced. But a Manolo – or any classic strappy or pointe shoe – really is the right choice.
Where do you get your culture recommendations from?
Can I say new York Magazine? It’s the only magazine I still subscribe to. I love the weekly recommendations in the background and I love the film reviewer David gemstone. I find new York Magazine very prolific. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that? It seems like you’re being pandered to.
You can definitely say that. I mean, I feel the same way personally, so I’m glad to hear others feel the same way. Which celebrities would you invite to a dinner party?
I’m really curious about Lana Del Rey. I want to be friends with her. I met Beyoncé once at a Knicks game. I’ve sat next to so many celebrities at Knicks games and she was the only one who turned and introduced herself to me. So she must be a nice lady. I feel like I want to spend time with her. She also ate all kinds of shit…M&Ms and fried chicken. Very real.
Relatable Queen! anyone else?
Louise Bourgeois, if she was alive. Now that my mother is getting older, I’m very curious about senior relationships. I feel like they have so much to offer and people don’t embrace them enough. I want to know more about her life.
Yes, that would be an interesting conversation. Speaking of which, what was the last meal you cooked for dinner?
For me or my son?
Hmm, not either.
Broccoli and pasta for my son. We have lots of egg noodles and lots of butter in our house. He loves broccoli with lemon. I have to emulate how they make it at Pepe Rosso’s because it’s his favorite restaurant in New York City.
Wow, man with taste! Which book could you not put down?
make movies by Sydney Lumet. There is much to be said about unions. That’s good, because Lumet was more of a director than a writer and director. So he has a lot to say about writers.
Is there a ritual before shooting?
It depends on the role and how emotional I am cast because some roles are obviously more disturbing than others. So it’s really more about coming down than a way to get rid of the feelings you’ve been working on and the trauma you’re rekindling. So yes, it really depends. For example, when I was working on (a film) that was very disturbing, I watched it Enlightened every day to get rid of the pain I felt all day.
That makes sense. Are there any other Comfort Rewatch shows?
The sopranos.
Ah, classic. But is it reassuring? I’m not sure.
Very! Very comforting. It’s comforting that this is how people make art and television… and that there are people who act this way and try to bring big ideas into the mainstream. It’s reassuring that gigs like this exist, don’t you understand? I could go on like this forever. I learn new things every time I see it. There are always new discoveries to be made and new feelings to be evoked for different characters.
How about something you’ve never seen before?
Well, I don’t want to offend anyone. But I’ve never watched The Kardashians.
Don’t worry, I don’t think that will offend anyone reading the cut.
I’ve never seen this before housewives either. I don’t know who any of them are. There’s also the tongue-in-cheek fondness for the reality TV thing, but that just doesn’t help me…unless I’m watching survivor at the moment. I watched too american idol. I had a huge crush on Simon Cowell.
