The 2023 AFL Finals series is here, and smaller Premier Collingwood meets Melbourne in the MCG’s first qualifying final.

Collingwood coach Craig McRae has already given the Demons a cheeky farewell shot ahead of Thursday night’s grand final.

McRae walked out of his press conference on Tuesday and told reporters, “See you in a couple of weeks,” implying his side would enjoy a week’s rest with a win.

The Magpies welcome back Captain Darcy Moore, Nathan Murphy and Beau McCreery to take on the Dees. The decision to use Jack Ginnivan as a substitute while John Noble is the first heartbreaking story as he is eliminated after 83 straight games for the club.

Melbourne have named Tom McDonald to replace injured Jake Melksham, while Michael Hibberd is also back.

Fox Footy’s David King believes it’s the Demons who go into the finals in top form.

“I just feel like they timed their run really well,” King said on SEN.

“I think Melbourne is almost perfect with the way it looks right now.”
