Craig Bellamy Press Conference, Hip Drop Tackle, Patrick Carrigan, Kevin Walters, Broncos, Nelson Asofa-Solomona
Storm coach Craig Bellamy gave a surprising assessment of the Broncos star Patrick Carrigan’s seminal scapegoat on Thursday evening.
Carrigan was controversially basketed for an alleged hip drop tackle against Nelson Asofa-Solomona, with the score set 10-10 in the 55th minute.
Melbourne scored eight points with Carrigan off the field and ran out 24-16 winners and Brisbane coach Kevin Walters was completely overwhelmed by this decision to march one of his best players.

Hip-drop charges are on track to triple in 2023, and Bellamy was asked how he thinks offense is being handled this season and if Carrigan deserves a sending off.
“I think we’re very conflicted and I think Patrick was very unlucky tonight to go in the sack,” Bellamy said.
“I think along the same lines as Kevvie. I think it was a really tough decision to put him in the sin bank, but that’s how the game went tonight.”

The Storm had ruled out a late try despite no knocking and they parried a penalty try against them in the first half.
“It got out of Justin’s mind and Xavier goes 100m, but we don’t look at the top, we just decide right away… I’m not exactly sure (how that happened),” Bellamy said.
“I found (the penalty attempt) a bit difficult but it doesn’t matter what I think, it depends what the bunker thinks and what the referee thinks, it’s done now.”
“We’re just happy that we won.”
