A CRUCIAL stimulus check date for millions of Americans to watch is fast approaching.

The new year means a new Congress will be sworn in, with Republicans taking over the House of Representatives on January 3, 2023.

As The climb Notes, not a single one republican supported the American Rescue Plan Act, which passed in January 2021, so this seems unlikely direct payments will be issued in 2023.

The rescue plan, supported by Democratically Members of Congress and signed by the President Joe Biden, gave millions of Americans a $1,400 stimulus check.

There is no active talk of another stimulus payment led by the Democratic Congress or Biden, although families want relief Inflation.

It comes as the Senior Citizens League, a nonpartisan advocacy group, is calling for a one-time $1,400 stimulus check for Social Security claimants, The US Sun has reported.

The group sent a letter to Congress last year saying the cost-of-living adjustment coupled with inflation will hit many older Americans on a fixed income hard.

HOPE FOR TAX CREDIT FOR CHILDREN

In the next few weeks, Democrats could look to expand the child tax credit before losing control of the House, Ascent noted.

Senator Michael Bennet, a Democrat from Coloradosaid newsline that he is working with both sides of the aisle to extend the child tax credit.

“We should have renewed it from the start — we should never have let it lapse,” Bennet said.

“It has achieved what we promised, which is to nearly halve child poverty in America and reduce hunger by a quarter.”

“In the end, we’re going to need 60 votes to move a law forward,” Bennet said.

He feels he can get it in a spending bill, but he knows he has to work with Republicans, he said.

OTHER PRIORITIES

This time before control changes is known as the lame duck session, when the party losing control tries to cram in as many new laws as possible.

It seems, however, that they have other priorities ahead of them stimulus Check or child tax credit.

“We’re going to try to have as productive a lame duck session as possible,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, said loudly United States today.
