Derek Carr signs with the New Orleans Saints and sends a message to the Raiders

Derek Carr is officially the Saints of New Orleans‘Quarterbacks.
This ends Carr’s time with the Raiders after nine seasons with the franchise.
Carr was introduced to the New Orleans media on Saturday afternoon and thanked the likes of Drew Brees, Peyton and Archie Manning, but he took the time to yell at others, including people associated with his now-former team.
“Thank you to the Raiders. Oakland, Las Vegas,” Carr said. “I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say thank you. I had nine great years there. Lots of great memories. Many hard times, many fun times. Lots of kids since then.
“Mr. Davis and the Raiders organization, thank you. I would not be here without you and would not be here if you had not chosen me at this point.”
Carr reunites with Dennis Allen, who was the Raiders head coach in 2014. The Raiders selected Carr in the second round of the NFL draft from Fresno State.
Carr broke many of the team’s franchise passing records, including yards and touchdowns.
The Raiders went for it Bank Carr for the final two games of the 2022 NFL season because of the guaranteed contract that would have been made had he been injured.
Even Carr poked fun at the bench press after being asked, “How many games did you miss? Three?” – to which he replied: “Two this year.”
Carr said he was open to trading with the Saints, but only New Orleans was given permission to speak to him in hopes of finding his next target.
“I was very willing to take a trade,” Carr said. “As much as I love and respect the guys (Raiders General Manager) Dave (Ziegler) and (Head Coach) Josh (McDaniels) at the Raiders, how can I make this decision when it’s the only time in my career that I could may be free. There’s no way I can make that decision without talking to other people, but I almost made the decision.
“I felt so much love here that I almost made it. I wasn’t closed off at all, which is shocking to some people. I wasn’t closed. I was willing to work but I was able to talk to the Saints but it worked out.”
