dr Eric Salata dies after sexual assault claims: MPs

Eric Andrew Salata.
A doctor who allegedly exploited two drugged patients has died, spokesmen for the Collier County Law & Crime Sheriff’s Office said. The incident report describes Eric Andrew Salata, 54, when shot in the head. A pistol was found next to his leg.
Authorities did not immediately announce a manner of death.
“At this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious,” a spokesman said Karie Partton Law&Crime said in an email.
Salata was only released from local jail on Tuesday, November 22, after being accused of molesting two patients at Pura Vida Medical Spa. The suspect’s alleged intent was to sexually abuse victims after drugging patients who came to him for legitimate procedures. He even gave one woman what she thought was tequila, police officers said.
Accordingly, he faced two counts of sexual violence by a person aged 18 or older to a victim aged 18 or older.
According to this, a deputy was sent to a social check on Monday at 6:17 p.m the partially edited incident report. Salata’s ankle monitor hasn’t detected any movement since about 10:18 a.m., lawmakers said.
A woman who spoke to the MP said Salata left two notes at his home. The authorities have redacted the content.
“I searched the area and noticed that a boot soil is sticking out of a wooded area near the location above,” the report said. “I continued investigating and observed Eric lying in a ditch with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head and an exit wound to the left side of his head.”
The investigator wrote that there was a pistol next to Salata’s right leg. Salata, whose wrist felt cold, appeared “freshly deceased with no sign of decay.”
Both women raised their allegations separately against the doctor.
The first woman, a 51-year-old, said she went to the spa on October 22.
“Victim 1 reported that during her procedure, Dr. Eric Salata was raped,” police wrote.
Salata is said to have prescribed her the sedative alprazolam the day before her appointment and told her to take it when she got to her procedure. He warned them the procedure was “excruciatingly painful and would take three to four hours,” officials said. The woman said she took the medication as directed. dr Salata was the only person in the room for her procedure. He gave her nitrous oxide for her pain, she said in the affidavit. It and the alprazolam made it so that “she was out of her mind.”
Salata is said to have grabbed the woman’s private parts and shaken “with force”. According to the affidavit, when she asked if he was touching her vagina, he let go.
“Victim 1 said she used more nitrous oxide because she was in so much pain,” police said. “Victim 1 said Dr. Salata told her he had also experienced the procedure and knew how painful it was, and that he drank whisks[e]y to help with the pain.”
She said she didn’t drink whiskey, and Salata offered her tequila, officials said.
“DR. Salata provided Victim 1 with an unknown clear liquid, which she believed to be tequila, and she drank it,” officials said.
The woman said she “passed out,” but the next thing she remembered were isolated moments when Salata sexually assaulted and then raped her.
The other woman, a 71-year-old, shared a similar story. According to police, she said she went to an appointment on November 21. As in the other case, Salata is said to have offered her laughing gas for her pain. She agreed to take it.
“Victim 2 felt that Dr. Salata would ‘turn it up,'” police said in reference to the nitrous oxide.
The incident allegedly escalated to Salata raping her, leaving a bruise on her lip where he kissed her.
“Victim 2 said she couldn’t believe it because she was almost 73 years old,” police said.
Both women took away a rape kit, officials said.
