Draymond Green suggests that missing Game Winner vs. Bucks saved him a $50,000 fine

Draymond suggests that the game’s missed winner saved him from a $50,000 fine, which originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Chase Center would have been treated to quite a celebration from Draymond Green if his near gamewinner had gone against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.

And while the Warriors star certainly would have liked to have ended Golden State’s eventual 125-116 win in overtime, his wallet is grateful it didn’t.

“Obviously it put us in a position to almost win the game; I smoked it,” Green said after playing his buzzer-beater attempt. “But we [were] able to figure it out in overtime. …

“I thought [the shot] was cash. I probably saved $50,000 though because the dance I was going to do when the ball went in. So I’m glad we still won and I can keep my money in my pocket.”

With a score of 111 apiece, Green launched a 28-foot, 3-point attempt with a second remaining in the fourth quarter. When the final buzzer sounded, the basketball bounced off the rim.

If Green had taken the shot, he said he would have danced all over the place, à la Sam Cassell.

“Sam I Am, down the whole square. I wanted to try and it bounced. I can’t waste my money now. But I wanted to waste it then, and I wanted to get every penny worth it. But unfortunately it’s rolled out.”

While it sounds like the Warriors’ home crowd missed an epic show from Green, teammate Steph Curry had that side of things covered with a late-game excitement that propelled Golden State to victory.

And a win over the Eastern Conference-leading Bucks? Priceless.
