Dublin Airport declares a full state of emergency as a private plane reports smoke in the cockpit

A full state of emergency was declared at Dublin Airport today after a private plane’s takeoff was aborted due to reports of smoke in the cockpit.
The emergency was handled by DAA, the operator of Dublin Airport, after the private plane with three crew on board aborted a takeoff.
The incident occurred this afternoon and triggered the DAA’s emergency protocols.
A spokesman said: “A full state of emergency was declared at Dublin Airport this afternoon after a private plane with three crew on board aborted takeoff due to reports of smoke in the cockpit.
“Dublin Airport emergency services responded and following the evacuation of the crew, the aircraft was towed under escort to the general aviation area of the airport.”
No fire was reported on board.
Some news outlets reported that there were likely delays due to the incident.
However, DAA said there were no delays.
“All operations have been relocated to the Northern Railway while the incident is being dealt with,” the spokesman said.
According to a Greenpeace report, there were 6,671 private jets in Ireland last year.
According to the study, most private aircraft flew from Dublin Airport with 3,445 departures in 2022.
