NEW YORK (AP) — The release of “Dune: Part Two” One of fall’s most anticipated films has been pushed back from November to next year, Warner Bros. confirmed Thursday.

The sci-fi sequel, directed by Denis Villeneuve, was supposed to hit theaters on November 3, but will hit theaters on March 15 next year instead. As the actors’ strike entered its second month, there were rumors that Dune: Part Two was considering a move. diversity reported earlier this month Warner Bros. considered the delay.

Warner Bros. decides to wait until its all-star cast can promote the follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2021 film Dune. Part Two stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgård, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Léa Seydoux.

Dune: Part Two is one of the biggest films of 2023 to have been postponed so far due to the ongoing cast and writer strikes. Recent releases have largely chosen to keep going despite the absence of their stars from red carpets or magazine covers. SAG-AFTRA has asked its members not to advertise studio films during the work stoppage.

Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, an MGM Studios release starring Zendaya, was previously pulled from its opening night at the Venice Film Festival and its debut was pushed back to next April. Sony has also pushed back its next Ghostbusters movie from December to next year and scraped the early 2024 release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse from its schedule.

As part of the Dune delay, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are rescheduling Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire by one month, to April 12. Warner Brothers’ Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will vacate this April date and move it to December 2024.

Warner Bros. has not changed its other releases in 2023, including Wonka (December 15), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20), and The Color Purple (December 25).
