Eagles cornerback James Bradberry could miss Week 2 with a concussion

The Eagles will already be shorthanded on defense — at least for a few weeks — with second-year linebacker Nakobe Dean out with a foot injury. More bad news came Monday afternoon from Nick Sirianni about a defense that was inconsistent against New England.

Bradberry is the Eagles’ No. 2 cornerback and plays on the outside. If he is unable to play against Minnesota on Thursday night – which appears to be a tall order since he must both meet the league’s concussion protocol and be fit in practice – Josh Jobe will be in the starting lineup alongside Darius Slay. Avonte Maddox would remain in his lead role.

The Eagles face a tough test of their secondary when Justin Jefferson and rookie Jordan Addison come to town. Although the Vikings lost their opener, Jefferson managed 150 yards on nine catches. The Birds will likely do everything they can to keep Slay stuck to Jefferson on the other side of the field.

Bradberry could do well in Week 3 if he has a little more time to rest and get through the NFL process.

The next-man-up mentality will extend to the other corners of the 53-man roster: Mario Goodrich, Eli Ricks and Kelee Ringo. Not much experience from this trio.

We will hear the final decision on Bradberry and his concussion as game day approaches later this week.
