Elden Ring and Indies sweep away at the Golden Joystick Awards
The Golden Joystick Awards just announced their winners, and indies have taken some wins away from triple-A titles.
Elden Ring was one of the big winners at the event, receiving five awards including Ultimate Game of the Year.

It also won Best Visual Design, Best Multiplayer Game, Critics’ Choice Award and Studio of the Year.
There were also some surprising nudges. Indie darling Stray won PlayStation Game of the Year ahead of the long-awaited God of War Ragnarök.
In fact, God of War hasn’t received any awards, while PlayStation’s other big game, Horizon Forbidden West, only won for best storytelling.
A number of indie games have received awards typically won by triple-A titles.
Cuphead: Delicious Last Course won Best Expansion, Vampire Survivors won the Breakthrough Award, Metal: Hellsinger won Best Audio, and Cult of the Lamb was named Coveted Game of the Year.
Popular live service games were also recognized despite having been available for several years.
Genshin Impact received the Still Playing Award, while Final Fantasy 14 won Best Syndicate.

- Best gaming hardware – steam deck
- Breakthrough Price – Vampire survivors
- Critics’ Prize – Elden ring
- Best Actor – Manon Gage (Marissa Marcel, Immortality)
- Nintendo Game of the Year – Pokémon Legends Arceus
- PC game of the year – Return to Monkey Island
- PlayStation Game of the Year – Stray
- Xbox game of the year – Grounded
- Most wanted game – Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Ultimate game of the year – Elden ring
