Sandra Ryan, 51, was sentenced to two months in prison when she admitted charges relating to the incident.
Mother-of-one Ryan, of Gortbeg Road, Finglas, pleaded guilty to theft, possession of stolen property and obstructing the Garda.
Dublin District Court heard the incident occurred on October 4 at Boots in the Ilac Center in central Dublin.
Garda Sergeant Michelle Lynch told Judge Bryan Smyth that the defendant went into the store and stole two Actimel baby milk products. She was stopped by security and gardaí were called.
Ryan became aggressive towards gardaí and resisted when she was arrested.
She was found to have property – eye cream – that still had security tags attached.
The court heard she had previous convictions for offenses including theft.
The defendant was already in custody and was serving a prison sentence with a release date of next year.
She “hoped to make a meaningful contribution to society upon her release,” said her attorney, Michael French.
Ryan is making “very good progress” in custody, Mr French added.
