First look at the Joker sequel to be released as production begins

Production of the 2019 sequel jokertitled Joker: Folie a DeuxHas officially started productionwith director Todd Phillips providing the first look at Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck aka Clown Prince of Crime. (This article contains spoilers for joker go forward.)

Phillips accompanied them Joker: Folie a Deux photo with caption, “Day 1. Our boy. #Joker”.

When we last saw the Joker, he had murdered talk show host Murray Franklin (Robert De Niro) on live television, resulting in his being arrested and sent to Arkham Asylum. The above photo shows Fleck shaving, presumably within these walls. The bony physique also remains. For the first film, Joaquin Phoenix lost more than 50 pounds.

Phillips has teased other parts about it Joker: Folie a Deux, but there’s so much unknown about the sequel, especially as far as plot details go. However, the title itself is a French term, referencing a shared psychosis that could hint at how Fleck’s future plans might unfold as the film progresses.

Perhaps this will directly affect Harley Quinn, who was announced earlier this year would be played by Lady Gaga. The announced cast also includes Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland.

2019 joker proved a hit when it came to awards, garnering multiple BAFTA nominations, four Golden Globe nominations and 11 Oscar nominations, the most this year. Phoenix won Best Actor in all three categories, in addition to a number of other guilds and organizations. joker also won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, an honor that landed him in the awards ceremony.
