Flavored by Philly returns as Herr’s looks for its next favorite chip – NBC10 Philadelphia

The “Flavored by Philly Local EatsThe competition is taking place for the third time in a row Mr Foods Inc. is looking for more flavors inspired by Philadelphia’s unique cuisine.

In a statement announcing the contest, Herr’s said it hopes to shine a spotlight on our local businesses by having Philadelphians nominate “their local gems.”

Anyone who would like to submit their ideas for chip flavors has until November 14th.

“As we launch the third Flavored by Philly competition, we are proud to support and honor the local small food businesses that were the beginning of our family’s business,” Herr Chairman and CEO Ed Herr said in the statement. “Of course, we’re also excited to launch three flavors for small businesses this summer so Philadelphians can continue to enjoy delicious snacks made just for them after a busy day at work.”

A panel of judges will review the submitted chip flavors and select three flavor finalists for Philadelphians to vote on early next summer.

All three finalist flavors will be available for the Philly community to purchase and sample before casting their vote.

The person behind the winning chip variety will receive $5,000 and a year’s supply of chips from the company. The company that inspired the winning flavor will receive a $10,000 prize.

Last year’s finalists were Corropolese Italian Bakery & Deli’s Tomato Pie, John’s Roast Pork’s Roast Pork Sandwich and Mike’s BBQ’s Korean BBQ Wings.
