Fluffy Sides: Fort Lauderdale Marshmallow Co. Puts a Bold Gourmet Touch on Gooey Campfire Treat – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

Marshmallow is ready for its closeup. For too long, this gooey fan favorite has been relegated to a supporting role in the dessert world. No longer! A few brave dessert pioneers are paving the way and ensuring marshmallows are having a sweet time in the spotlight.

marshmallow? No, not Marshmello – Marshmallows! From Fort Lauderdale Marshmallow Co.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “The Fort Lauderdale Marshmallow Company is a marshmallow company. We specialize in making gourmet marshmallows.”

They’re crazy about it. That’s why there are so many flavors.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “We have 15 flavors. Our top sellers are the Oreo Birthday Cake, the Coconut, the Smurf and our now popular Pistachio.”

These fluffy ingredients aren’t like the squishy versions you get in stores.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “There is a big difference between ours and what you can get in stores. Our Birthday Cake Oreo, for example, is a homemade, fresh marshmallow base with chopped birthday cake oreos, extra sprinkles, and even more sprinkles on top.”

And if they sound a lot like ice, it’s because they’re… sort of. These treats are made by the same people who make the ice cream for Razzleberry’s Ice Cream.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “Our customers have always asked to take the ice cream home, for example to Chicago, which unfortunately is not possible.” So we wanted to come up with something that would capture our flavors and allow our guests to do so to take our flavors home.”

They are made right in house and are ready to ship or serve.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “We started with our most popular ice cream flavors and took a marshmallow base instead of an ice cream base and used the exact flavors and mix-ins that we would put in our ice cream. We tried them and were like, ‘Wow, that worked!’”

And there’s more than one way to enjoy these gooey treats.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “You can put them on a milkshake, on a sundae, or as a toasted marshmallow and ice cream sandwich.”

Keith Robertson: “I loved my sundae, the mix of marshmallows and my favorite flavor of ice cream.”

Marshmello (DJ set): “I’m so alone. Nothing feels like home. I am so alone. I’m trying to find my way back home to you!”

OK, OK, maybe they aren’t homebut you’re not the only one who loves these sweet treats either.

Jennifer Thomas-Sassone: “You should try a marshmallow because it’s unique. Many people haven’t had a chance to try it yet. The size of a brownie, the flavor of a marshmallow mixed with the flavors of an ice cream cone.”
