Former Northern Ireland National Front Portrush leader Mark Brown is charged with assaulting two women

Mark Brown (36) appeared at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court this morning facing two charges of assault
An outspoken former leader of the National Front in Northern Ireland has been accused of attacking two women last month.
Mark Brown (36), of Skerryview, Portrush, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court this morning face two charges of assault.
The defendant is accused of unlawfully assaulting both female victims on August 20th.
When he appeared in court, Brown said he understood the allegations – a police official, meanwhile, said they could link the defendant to them.
District Judge King further granted Brown bail, with conditions prohibiting him from contacting the victims or entering any particular area of Coleraine.
The judge adjourned the case to October 16.

Brown was involved in a number of anti-immigration protests in Portrush last year. He was arrested at a meeting in May after he began approaching several counter-protesters.
The PSNI confirmed that Brown had received a public order offense notice (PND) as a result of the incident.
This newspaper also revealed in May that Brown was the driving force behind the furore in the city over concerns that the former Magherabuoy House Hotel could be used to accommodate asylum seekers under new ownership.
There was another protest in the city on June 24th, and a counter-demonstration was also organized that same afternoon.
Brown was also vocal against the first Causeway Pride, held in August, again using Facebook to brand those behind the event a “queer tent” who were trying to “impose debauchery and other social ills on our city dwellers.”
Brown also called on people to “stop normalizing sexual deviance” and shared an image with the caption “Protect our children.”
