As seen on surveillance video, on October 18, A began exiting Home Depot with a shopping cart. Police said there were three pressure washers inside. An employee identified as Rasor walked up to him, but the suspect pushed him to the ground.
Rasor, known in the store as Mr. Gary, suffered multiple fractures and was never able to walk again, the family said in a WRAL Report. He was able to celebrate his 83rd birthday in the hospital.
“Everyone loves him, he is an outstanding human being,” the police major said Andy Simmons previously told the outlet. “And then someone does that to him just to commit a theft, that’s absolutely ridiculous.”
“This is 100 percent planned and involves violence for a couple of pressure washers,” Gary’s son said Jeff Rasor said. “It’s almost incomprehensible. I will not stop. We will keep looking and one day they will make a mistake and that day will be a good day.”
Police describe the suspect as a six-foot-tall black man. He fled in a white, four-door Hyundai Sonata, it said. Officials said the license plate was obscured but said it was a temporary North Carolina label.
