Gogglebox’s 10th anniversary celebrations left fans in tears as they paid tribute to the stars who have died since the show.

The popular Channel 4 series celebrated its landmark year on Saturday 12 March with a special episode identifying the fan favorite faces who are no longer with us.

These included former narrator Caroline Aherne, who died of cancer in 2016, and five screen stars who made their living rooms available for our entertainment.

In the episode, all of the previous contestants shared a compilation of the highlights of the past decade, with all lending their voices on the latest current events and must-watch TV shows.

At the end of the episode was a special section dedicated to Aherne, along with June and Leon Bernicoff, Mary Cook, Pete McGarry, and Andy Michael.

Married couple June and Leon passed away within three years, with Leon dying in December 2017 at the age of 83.

June died in May 2020 at the age of 82 from a “brief illness” said to be unrelated to the coronavirus.

The pair were one of Gogglebox’s original families, along with producer Tania Alexander read that “June and Leon were the Gogglebox originals and a huge part of the show’s success. I adored them both. Big kiss June darling.”

Pete McGarry, who appeared on the series with wife Linda and their son Gary, died of colon cancer in June 2021, just days after being told his diagnosis was terminal.

Mary Cook, known for her naughty conversations with her best friend Marina Wingrove, died in August 2021 at the age of 92.

Cook had previously credited the series with giving it a “new life.”

Retired hotelier Andy Michael, the patriarch of the Michael family, appeared on the series alongside wife Carolyne, son Louis and daughter Alex.

He died in September 2021 after a short illness at the age of 61.
