Based on Disney’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin Grossing over $1 billion at the global box office, it came as no surprise that the studio quickly began developing a sequel. But four years later, we’ve heard very little about the project’s progress. colliders I recently sat down with Guy Ritchie and asked him to direct again Aladdin 2.
“I would very much like‘ said Guy Ritchie. “I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this experience. It was a great experience. The whole Disney thing, as you can imagine, is such a professional outfit. It was so much fun from that perspective alone. I would love to, we’ll wait and see.‘ The director added that she ‘I’ve been kicking around a few ideas for a while, but it would be great to do it, it would be great to go back to it.“
Mena Massoud, who played Aladdin in the live-action film, offered an update Aladdin 2 last year. “I don’t know there’s movement‘ Massoud said. “There has been a change in writers and they are working on a brand new draft. That is everything I know. If Aladdin 2 happens, that’s awesome. I think it should happen. Rideback Productions’ Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who made the Lego movies and Aladdin, want to make sure they’re getting this right. So when we see Aladdin 2, it won’t be based on the animated version at all. This will be a brand new original story.” The original Aladdin Two direct-to-video sequels followed, The Return of Jafar And Aladdin and the King of Thieves.
Whether Will Smith will return as a genius Aladdin 2, Guy Ritchie has said he wouldn’t hesitate to ask the actor back despite all the controversy surrounding the Oscar slap. “I have never met a lovelier man and working with him was one of the most wonderful, amazing experiences I have ever had.‘ said Ritchie. “I’ve never seen anything but the consummate, generous gentleman. I wouldn’t have a problem hiring Will Smith for anything because, like I said, he was just the perfect damn gentleman.”
