Here’s why Billie Eilish deleted all social media apps from her phone

Billie Eilish has parted ways with her social media accounts. In a new episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend: Musician Series The “Happier Than Ever” singer described what it was like growing up with the internet in her formative years and why she’s now choosing to keep her distance.
“I don’t watch it anymore. I deleted everything from my phone which is such a big deal to me,” she told O’Brien. “You didn’t have the internet you grew up with… I feel like I grew up in the perfect internet era that wasn’t so internet-heavy that I didn’t have a childhood. I really had that childhood and I was doing stuff all the time. It was computers and games on computers, but hardly.”

Eilish said that as she hit puberty, she noticed her internet habits changing to those of a normal teen who wasn’t famous, which quickly became a complicated issue. “As a teenager on the internet, these were my people. I was one of those people on the internet,” the 21-year-old recalls. “Inside myself, I feel like nothing has changed, but … not changing anything about the person I am and the life I live, and just getting on with what I’ve been doing over the years, slowly.” the videos I watch and the things I see on the internet is about me. I’m like…ew! smelly! I do not like it.”
And while she knows things said about her online are often wrong, the seven-time Grammy winner struggles to face the reality of a situation. “Everything I read on the internet, I believe. Me! And I know for a fact that this is stupid and that I shouldn’t do this because I have evidence that it’s not all true. Almost none of this is true,” she concluded. “They are little white lies that go over everyone’s heads, but everyone believes. How much of a lie was what I read when I looked it up on the internet?”
Eilish generally keeps away from social media, though on Thursday (March 2) she shared a carousel post of yourself with relaxing activities such as horseback riding, sunbathing, driving, solving a puzzle and other relaxing activities.
