Hogwarts Legacy fashion is the only thing that keeps me going

Hogwarts legacy was intended to be a magical RPG, allowing players to become any type of witch or wizard they want and explore the world of Harry Potter – but as it turns out, it may have accidentally become primarily an 1890s fashion show. Cosmetics are a great way for any game to add a touch of personalization and self-expression to the experience, and as such they rarely face complaints (assuming they’re not trapped behind microtransactions). But outfits seem to be the main focus for many students, especially in the late game, and this could spell trouble later Hogwarts legacy.

As widespread as fashion is, it’s far from the only personalization feature in the game. Endless combinations of wood types, styles, lengths and more are offered to players when customizing their wand at Ollivanders. In contrast, the character creation menu is in Hogwarts legacy is lackluster and lacks key details that could greatly enhance immersion. Of all the cosmetic systems, gear customization is by far the most extensive, but this is a double-edged sword, given that Hogwarts legacyAt the same time, outfits can highlight a core theme of long-term gameplay.

Outfits in Hogwarts Legacy are about fashion, not function

It often feels like the only incentive to explore is to find new clothes. Finally, with the transmog system storing every item in a player’s collection and then allowing them to equip that item at any time without sacrificing stats, witches and wizards will inherently want to collect as many potential outfits as possible. On the other hand, finding gear with better perks or stats quickly becomes unimportant. Not only are students constantly moving from one piece of clothing to the next, but they can also apply their own upgrades using the Enchanted Loom in Hogwarts legacy. In other words, most loot serves a cosmetic purpose rather than affecting survivability.

Hogwarts Legacy Outfits are the most dynamic gameplay feature

Compared to other RPGs, some of which don’t have a transmog system, Hogwarts legacy can provide a nice change of pace for fashion-conscious students. However, it can quickly become a problem if that is the sole reason for players to explore the vast open world map. After all, gear and galleons are practically the only consistent rewards they receive throughout their adventures. So when witches and wizards inevitably collect every piece of clothing or are otherwise happy with their outfits, they may no longer feel excited about actually playing the game. At this time Hogwarts legacyThe lack of meaningful side quests and replayability will make itself felt.

Since fashion is one of the few motivators for progression, the gaming experience can slowly disintegrate over time. Providing more dynamic rewards for exploration is a magical opportunity Hogwarts legacy misses the mark, but that doesn’t mean things can’t improve in the future. With any luck, new updates, expansions or even sequels will give witches and wizards more game features to look forward to – but in the meantime they can create the best outfits Hogwarts legacy may remain as the primary focus of many.
