Last year’s MTV Video Music Awards brought us like a fairy tale midnight from the musical Cinderella, Taylor Swift. So what will this year bring, you may ask? Someone could pour their heart out on stage. Others may try to play (or invent) bongos. Someone is being slimmed down the most right now… Oh wait, that’s the other awards show. The VMAs are back as one of the few awards shows that has survived due to the ongoing Hollywood strike over the past few months and has finally made it over the starting line. If you’re still on your family’s cable package, you can catch the pre-show at the start of the evening, which features Sabrina Carpenter and NLE Choppa (who promises to bring a special guest on stage). The pre-show begins at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on MTV and Paramount+. Hosted by Nicki Minaj, the main show airs at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT, also on MTV and Paramount+, and features appearances from Minaj, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo and more. In any case, the topic of losing weight needs to be included in more awards shows.
