Huge lion spots a young hyena wandering alone on the road. gulp.

A large Lion‘s patience paid off after waiting for an ignorant hyena cub walking towards him South Africa. (Potentially disturbing video below.)

filming posted Wednesday On the wildlife platform, Latest Sightings featured the young hyena walking on the road while the lion watched from the brush.

The big cat waited before sprinting down an embankment and pouncing on its unsuspecting prey. The edited clip shows the lion appearing with its prey and then abandoning it.

“Despite our initial impulse to intervene, we knew that to intervene would upset the natural balance of the environment. So we watched with a heavy heart,” Tanisha Rach, a 20-year-old student who shared the video from Kruger National Park, told Latest Sightings.

Some YouTube viewers wondered why a young hyena would be alone, but a spokesman for Latest Sightings told HuffPost that the cub is probably just exploring the area, as they do as they get older, and that the den in the could have been near.
