I find wooden cutting boards so difficult to clean, but my hack makes it so easy, you don’t even have to scrub

A HOME Hacks, cleaning and decorating guru shared how she cleans wooden cutting boards—so easily, no scrubbing is needed.
UK based TikTok user @tanyahomeinspowho calls herself the “Queen of Hacks,” recently took to the video-sharing app to share a “must-try” tip for cleaning wooden cutting boards.
In the footage, Tanya showed her followers how to clean wooden boards using a large disposable aluminum foil container, hot water and dish soap.
Soaking wooden cutting boards in hot water for an hour is, according to the influencer Perfect for removing unwanted dirt.
After soaking two cutting boards one on top of the other for 60 minutes, the water the pieces of wood were placed in looked dirty with small particles floating around.
However, not everyone agreed with Tanja’s idea.

One TikTok user commented: “They could warp or chip if submerged. Just rub with salt crystals and half a lemon.”
Another said: “Boiling water dissolves the tannins from the wood.”
“Some of the color you’re seeing is actually the color of the wood being released by the hot water,” commented a third.
A fourth person wrote: “You will weaken the boards by doing this, just scrub and re-oil.”
Another wooden cutting board cleaning trick Tanya shares is to sprinkle salt on the cutting boards. Squeeze the juice of one lemon over it and massage the board with the leftover lemon.
After the board has been massaged, it should be wiped with a damp cloth to complete the cleaning process.
Corresponding health lineWooden boards “must be cleaned regularly to avoid contamination of food with bacteria like E. coli, which can cause foodborne illness.”
“You should aim to use multiple cutting boards — one for raw meat and one for fresh produce,” the health news agency suggests.
“If you’re unable to do that, a cutting board should do the trick, as long as you clean it thoroughly.”
And if you’re trying to get those nasty brown stains off your plastic boards, hack guru Armen Adamjan insists that scrubbing with soap and water won’t get you anywhere.
Taking to social media, he held up his dirty plastic cutting board and said, “If your cutting board looks like this and no matter what you do, the stains just won’t come out, here’s what you should do.”
He sprinkled some baking soda on the stain before dousing a little hydrogen peroxide over it.
If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide, you can use vinegar instead.
This combination created an instant fizz as the two chemicals react when combined.
He then added sea salt and scrubbed the three products onto the board with half a lemon.

The acid, as well as the chemical reaction and graininess of the salt, instantly melted the stains.
After washing with some water, the plastic plate looked almost new.
