I’m an American tourist in the UK and thought everyone should be overly polite. I’m surprised how wrong I was

A REDDIT user has shared that he once thought Brits were overly polite but has since changed his mind after encountering a white van.
The person (@PriyaKhalifaX) took to the social media page to share their unexpected experience while on a work trip in the UK and posted a photo of the van in question.
Parked just outside the lines of a busy spot, someone had their finger scrawled: “MOVE OVER C**T” on the back of the dirt-covered vehicle.
The user wrote: “I’m here in the UK on a business trip. I love how we Americans think you’re “too polite”!”
People were in hysterics over the photo and couldn’t help but comment on how accurately they felt it was a representation of the country.
“We Brits suppress a lot of emotion and anger because we’re a decent, polite country, but every now and then we have an almighty urge to let off steam and that’s the way we do it,” one person wrote.
Another person argued, “We’re not actually that polite, we just use too much please and thank you.”
A third shared how they witnessed a similar scene when they encountered a van also covered in dirt all over. On the back someone had written: “Also available in white”.
“We may appear polite on the surface, but underneath we’re filled with passive aggressive rage,” explained a fourth.
While a fifth added: “I remember years ago an American friend thought something similar and then watched an episode of the original Shameless and in shock texted me to ask how accurate it was.
“And honestly, despite what’s overkill for comedy, a lot of it is pretty much spot on.”
However, some shared that they never thought the British were overly polite and instead felt the opposite might be the case.
“As an American I can assure you I would never have thought the British polite but that might be because I started Runescape in 2002 and as a young teenager I had a lot of contact with Brits lol.” [sic] one person shared.
And a second agreed: “In general I find that in their day to day interactions people in the US are friendlier and more polite than in the UK…
“I think America was cliched and bought big, we’re a bunch of jerks most of the time.” [sic]
