Inside Apple’s secret plans for the future iPhone – three life-changing upgrades

APPLE is developing a true adventure phone behind the scenes.

The Sun has trawled through some of Apple’s latest patents to give you a glimpse of what the tech giant could be putting on store shelves in the not-too-distant future.

The iPhone maker is about to introduce a foldable screen, following in Samsung’s footsteps.

The US Patent and Trademark Office has granted Apple a patent for an expandable display that could be used on future iPhones and iPads.

Apple is also working on making its touchscreens usable underwater.

Most iPhones are now waterproof, which means you can submerge them in 6 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

However, it has proven difficult to use the device underwater like you would on land.

The screen tends to detect the presence of water and will make it difficult for users to press buttons on the screen as intended.

The new iPhone screen will have an optical touch sensor that is impervious to moisture.

This means iPhones are fully functional when submerged in water, be it swimming in fresh or salt water, and when an iPhone is wet due to rain.

Apple is also expected to drop its Dynamic Island on future models.

The Dynamic Island, an interactive bar with notifications and app shortcuts just below the camera, was introduced on iPhone 14 Pro models.

But much like the interactive bar on Apple’s MacBook Pro, which hit shelves in 2020, it’s likely to be a one-hit wonder.

With the increasing popularity of artificial intelligence (AI), Apple is considering adding advanced machine learning to its latest iPhones as part of its Memoji feature.

Memoji is Apple’s in-house avatar feature that allows users to create customizable and interactive emoji based on the user’s appearance.

iPhone users currently have to create the Memoji themselves in their own image.

However, Apple plans to introduce AI to detect changes in appearance and update the Memoji accordingly.

For example, the next generation of Memoji customization will allow users to integrate their own glasses, hats, hijabs and other accessories into their Memoji through a machine learning process.
