Britney Spears talks about her decision to write her new memoir.
The pop superstar will publish her insightful book on Friday The woman in me next week – shared a candid message with fans on social media about her intentions with the project.
“The purpose of my book was in no way to offend anyone,” Spears, 41, said. wrote in a note on both Instagrams And X, formerly Twitter.
“That was me back then… that’s in the past!!!”
The “Toxic” singer then wrote that most of the events recounted in her memoir took place 20 years ago. “I have moved on and from here it is a wonderful new beginning,” she wrote. “I’m here to establish it this way for the rest of my life!!! Either way, this is the last time and it’s happening!”
Spears continued, writing that she “didn’t know” The woman in me “had to be written,” but it gave her “completion in all things for a better future.”
“Hopefully I can enlighten people who, in most cases, feel particularly alone or hurt or misunderstood,” she continued. “Once again, my motivation for writing this book was not to dwell on my past experiences…”

Before it hits shelves, Spears caught up with PEOPLE discuss The woman in me – from the moments that were difficult to write about to her life today, after the end of her conservatorship in 2021. As she explained via email, it is “finally time to give my voice stand up and speak out, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me.”
Spears also promised that writing the book would mean “no more conspiracy, no more lies – just me taking responsibility for my past, present and future.”
“For the last 15 years or even early in my career, I sat back while people talked about me and told my story for me,” Spears said. “After leaving my conservatory, I finally had the freedom to tell my story without the consequences of the people responsible for my life.”

The woman in me is scheduled to be released on October 24th and is Available for pre-sale Now. And for Spears fans who may not want to open a copy, the audio edition of the book is expected to be narrated by an Oscar nominee Michelle Williamswho will lend her voice to much of the memoir, while Spears reads an introduction.
“This book was a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it,” Spears said previously shared in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “Experiencing it all again was exciting, heartbreaking and emotional to say the least. For these reasons, I will only read a small portion of my audiobook.”
