John Krasinski weighs the odds of him playing Reed Richards again in the MCU

When John Krasinski acted as Reed Richards in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wonder has made fan casting dreams come true on an epic scale. The noise fans made about Krasinski playing the self-absorbed genius and patriarch of the Fantastic Four was deafening. Since people can never get enough of a good thing, fans wanted to know if Krasinski would continue playing the character in future MCU projects. Thank God, The wrap‘s Adam Chitwood got the news while chatting with Krasinski about his intelligent and malleable alter ego.

Talking to Krasinski about the upcoming third season of jack ryanTouching on the actor’s Marvel role, Chitwood asked if there had been talks of him coming back to play Reed Richards. Unfortunately, Krasinski says there are no plans for him to play Susan Storm-Richards’ super awesome spouse in another project. However, he gave a glowing review about the filming of his role Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand said it was an honor for fans to ask him to take on the role.

“There’s no discussion at all. The only discussion I had was actually the week before last jack ryan“ Krasinski told Chitwood. “Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to LA and play in our sandbox for a day? It was an honor for me to do this. I flew direct from Budapest when we were wrapping and went straight to Doctor Strange set to. I’m a huge fan of all of these characters and this world, so playing in this sandbox for a day was a real thrill.”

For context, Krasinski played an alternate version of Reed Richards from another dimension in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel spent most of Phase 4 introducing the multiverse to the masses and preparing everyone for what is to come when the Secret Wars begin. It’s obvious Krasinski won’t be returning for Marvel’s Fantastic Four Movie since he died at the hands of Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange’s latest big screen adventure. Chitwood and Krasinski discussed Richard’s untimely death, Krasinski called it one “insane” turn of events.

“It’s totally insane. To be in a room with all these people and to be part of this narrative again is crazy.” explained Krasinski. “But yeah, getting turned into spaghetti wasn’t my ultimate goal in life as far as the Marvel Universe goes, but you know it was fun nonetheless.”

The Marvel Universe is unpredictable, and I wouldn’t count Krasinski’s Reed Richards out of the mix. Time does fun things in the MCU, so there’s always a chance Krasinski will make a surprise appearance later.
